The story starts in the 1980's when Tim Richardson was working in the financial service industry. His early career was spent with the Woolwich Building Society where, having lead a team in the retail and head office banking environments, he was part of a talented team that established a leading edge learning and development function bringing culture change throughout the business. The Woolwich went on to blaze a trail and was acquired by Barclays who valued its product innovation and can do culture.
In 1993 Tim wanted to do this kind of thing more widely and set up It's Original with his wife Caroline with the aim of providing innovative leadership, talent, learning and development solutions drawing together people development specialists and creative communicators. Since then, Tim and his Associate colleagues have worked with many corporate clients large and small, individuals both senior and junior, and organisations across the voluntary and third sectors. Tim and the team have extensive international experience including the Far East, Central Asia, mainland Europe, North and South America and Africa.
The aim has always been to be a niche player offering leading edge thinking, value for money and quality, and being able to respond in an agile way.
Another goal for It's Original was to balance working with mainstream established businesses and multi nationals with offering development solutions to social enterprises and charities. On numerous occasions these have been brought together to provide exciting solutions that combine senior and emerging talent in major corporations learning with and from social entrepreneurs and their challenges.
One such assignment between 2000-2009 saw Tim work with PwC where he was the driving force behind the setting up of comprehensive talent management strategy initially in the UK and subsequently as part of a global team. This involved cascading talent management approaches, tools and techniques around the global network. He originated the firm's Emerging Leaders Programme and created innovative Senior Leadership Development Programmes for key Partners and Senior People around the world. For a period of 3 years from 2006-2009 Tim took a permanent role as Director of Leadership, Talent and Development in the UK for PwC.
Tim and the Associate team have been coaches to Partners, Directors and Senior Leaders across many sectors living out the belief that coaching is a key enabler for people to cement learning and make progress. In addition, they have spoken at a number of conferences around the world on the subject of talent and leadership bringing to life our passion around leading responsibly and authentically. This is reflected in Tim's first book - Monday's Times - that tells the story of a senior executive's search for meaning and soul in his work.
Tim's reputation and style is as a great executive coach, a lively, humourous and engaging communicator and as an inspiring facilitator with groups, balancing business experience with a passion for people. We ensure that the people that work with us at It's Original model these characteristics whilst bringing their own unique and valuable flavour to our work.
